We are the Scalise family - Fred, Jeannie, Adam, Eric and Wylie.  We are the new proprietors of the Paradox General Store and Deli.  Our family loves the Adirondack Mountains.  Paradox has become a special place for us, with loons and birds waking us in the morning, and serene nights of tree frogs and the occasional howling coyotes.

We are from Belchertown, MA but have been spending as much time in the Adirondacks as possible for the past ten years.   I grew up just south of the blue line in Gloversville and Fred is a native of Springfield, Massachusetts.   We have three grown sons Adam, Eric and Wylie.   Our oldest son, Adam, will be operating the deli.   Eric will remain in Massachusetts, continuing his education and work as a carpenter and contractor.   Wylie, the youngest will be around with me this summer due to a broken hand, but will be leaving in the fall to continue his education in Dairy management at South Dakota State University.

 

Adam has ten years experience cooking in a home style restaurant as well as managerial experience in the fast food business.   The deli will offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches made to order with Boars Head meat and cheese.   We will be adding beer and wine   as soon as we can obtain a license which will take a little time.   Our hope for the store is to remain open year round.   Our stock and deli offerings will change with the seasons as needed.   So please stop in and don’t be afraid to tell us what you are looking for that we may be able to offer.   I look forward to meeting everyone and being a part of this wonderful community.   So please, stop in and say hello!!
